Evaluations
A Hearing Evaluation, also known as an audiological evaluation,
assesses the person's hearing on a higher level than the hearing
screening. In hearing evaluation, a person's hearing is tested
through a battery of assessments, including of middle ear function,
response to tones, and response to speech. All these are
utilized to establish a person's hearing threshold, or lowest level of
hearing sensitivity. Through assessment of the different part of
the auditory system, the hearing loss can be determined as to its site
of lesion (place where the hearing loss is occurring) so that proper
recommendations can be made. These recommendations can be medical or
for amplification. It is the role of the audiologist to
determine the level of hearing loss and through the battery of tests
determine the point of lesion so proper steps can be made towards
treatment. External
